My name is Dr. Ann Horstmann, and thank you for visiting my web site! I'm a 1983 graduate of Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa. Growing up on a farm in eastern Iowa, I had often heard of the 'miracles' performed by chiropractors but did not have a chance to experience my first 'adjustment' until I was in undergraduate school. My focus was on music as I was growing up. I went to college on a music scholarship and worked summers singing. One week I was struggling with laryngitis to the point I couldn't talk. A friend suggested I see a chiropractor. This sounded like an absurd solution to my condition, but I was desperate. I made the appointment, and by the time I made it to the stage that evening, my voice had completely recovered! I became a believer!
In 1974, I graduated from St. Ambrose University in Davenport, Iowa with a psychology degree, but my interests were turning toward the chiropractic profession. I moved to Knoxville where I kept performing music and continued my education at the University of Tennessee to meet the science requirements for chiropractic college.
I returned to Davenport in 1980 and received my degree in December of 1983. In 1984 I returned to the mountains in East Tennessee and established the Appalachian Chiropractic Clinic. Since that time, I received my certification in acupuncture from the American Acupuncture Society and continued postgraduate studies in infrared laser, physical therapy, nutrition, and chiropractic research.
Throughout the years I have enjoyed memberships in local, state and national chiropractic associations, but in 1986 I joined another group, the Christian Chiropractic Association which impacted my professional life on a more spiritual level. In the early 1990's I had the privilege of serving on short term chiropractic missions teams three years in a row. In 1994, with the birth of my son, Will, my missions focus turned toward my own home. When you visit the office, you will meet Will who studies and works at the office and continues to be the Lord's greatest gift of my life.
This year we are joyfully celebrating our 25th anniversary in business. It has been a blessing to help not only the people of Sevier County but the tourists that visit from all over the country. Together with my office manager, Connie Johnson, who has been my 'right hand' for the past six years, we are looking forward to many more years ahead, providing chiropractic care and prayer for the wonderful folks of this area.
Stop by and visit our office or call for an appointment. Consultations are free and your health is invaluable!
Mission statement: My desire is to get patients well as quickly as possible as well as educate our community on how God has wonderfully made the human body with the ability to heal itself if given the proper care. My goal is to help patients achieve wellness by restoring and maintaining a healthy nerve supply to all parts of the body thru chiropractic adjustments. Healthy nerve flow in combination with proper nourishment, exercises and practical applications of faith to deal with daily stress allows us to experience the life of abundance Jesus purchased for all of us.
Prov. 3:5-6,8: Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding.
In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.
It will be healing to your body and refreshment to your bones.
